Sass Brown throws down.
The sun came out today and I decided to get out for a bit of retail therapy. At one of the stores I visited someone wearing the same Weston Wear top as I was so I had to get a pic of us together.
#madeinUSA outfit details: black floral top c/o Weston Wear; aubergine jeans by AG-adriano goldschmidt from Anthropologie; Nanette Lepore Big Top coat; jewelry by Mercer & Jayne; convertible backpack/tote bag byElke; my own handknit hat
Near repeat #madeinUSA outfit details: black and white striped top by Bailey44; bright pink wool jacket by Trina Turk from Nordstrom Rack; black leggings by Three Dots; handknit fingerless hand warmers by Kiwi & Company
A perfect Winter pick-me-up: Loving this bright and happy and warm jacket I bought recently so much that I have nearly repeated a look I wore just last week.
It has been so snowy and cold here the past few days that I have not been inspired to go out and take pics - so here is a #tbt of a snuggly Winter look from last year.
#MadeinUSA Outfit details: handknit color block sweater by S. Charles Collezione purchased at Shuttles, Spindles and Skeins in Boulder; Trina Turk print top; Black J Brand jeans from Nordstrom; knit hat by TikiFiberCrafts from etsy
Interesting sounding book, ”Refashioned, is an excellent, informative movement manuscript that can double as a resource for all those interested in both innovative fashion and recycling in general. Bonus: this book is made from recycled materials!” - W27 Newspaper
Getting my pink on #madeinUSA outfit details: classic vintage Milly top from eBay; bright pink wool jacket by Trina Turk from Nordstrom Rack; Citizens of Humanity “Ava” jeans from Nordstrom; and handknit scarf, one of my first projects (first seen here)
I was shopping recently with my daughter and I spotted this cute hot pink jacket which I thought would be perfect for this month’s “How I Wear My" post. And, lucky me, it was by Trina Turk - and made in USA. When I went through my pics I realized that even though I love all pinks, in theory, I usually only wear it really bright and up by my face. I have two scarves that are very often used to give an outfit a pop of color, a few tops, and now this great jacket. But I think I would only wear one piece at at time. ;)
New kicks for running around #madeinUSA outfit details: “incense” top by Nanette Lepore; black embellished cardigan by Rozae Nichols from Common Threads, Boulder; Paige Denim distressed boyfriend jeans from Nordstrom Rack; “lingerie” suede bag by Clutch Bags, NYC; my own earrings; and new slingback suede shoes by Lily & Lola, handcrafted in USA!
SO MANY MADE IN USA BRANDS…
And this is only a small percentage of them. Many more brands have manufactured apparel in America. They say that back in1960, 95% of clothing sold in the United States was made in the United States. Now only 2-3% of the clothing sold here is made here. What can we do to change that? Vote with our dollars. : )
I have a friend who lives across the country. She, like me, is an “excellent shopper” - by which I mean she shops everywhere from the high-end shops to the thrift and consignment shops to everywhere in between. She is aware of my mission to shop for #madeinUSA clothing and every time she spots a hangtag that is on a garment made here she snaps a photo. Above is a collage of just some of those labels. It only takes a second to check - let’s shop more thoughtfully this year.
Repeat #madeinUSA Outfit details: black and white print tunic dress by Tucker; black leggings by Vince - both of these items are from Rags consignments, Boulder; black knit cardigan by Karen Kane; “Missy” frame sunglasses from Kala Eyewear
I do like to repeat favorite outfits, maybe making small tweaks, but this one is definitely a winner. This outfit looks put together, but it is very comfortable and versatile. In fact, the photo from last year has many repins on Pinterest!
